Programme Officer Communications - David Trouba

Dave Trouba is from Omaha, Nebraska, USA, and joined WSSCC in April 2008. Prior to joining the Council, he worked for 10 years at the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), serving most recently as its Communications Director. He was responsible for the overall communications, marketing and media strategies for SIWI and its various sub-programmes, including the World Water Week in Stockholm. During his time in Stockholm, SIWI's portfolio and international profile grew significantly, and its staff size increased from 6 to nearly 30.

From 1991 to 1998, he was the Public Information Manager at the Water Environment Federation (WEF) in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. The WEF is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization with more than 34,000 individual members around the world. After graduating with a degree in journalism from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, he spent 1990-91 working with Communications and Conference Coordination at JT&A, an environmental consulting firm in Washington, DC, USA.

His professional philosophy is based on the belief that communications bridge the divide between knowledge and action in our efforts to overcome sanitation, water, environment and human development challenges.

In his spare time, he enjoys listening to live blues, traveling, playing basketball, following Nebraska Cornhusker football, and involving himself as a co-host on the radio programme Think Globally (www.thinkgloballyradio.org).
