Sanjit Bunker Roy

Bunker Roy has practical experience in the field of providing drinking water to the poorest of the poor since 1967. He still lives and works in a small village called Tilonia and has used his experience to influence and draft policy at the Regional and National level in India. The Barefoot College which he started in 1972 has experimented and applied a whole range of drinking water options from hand pumps in Rajasthan and Ladakh to piped water supply (Rajasthan) and is now convinced that the long term sustainable solution is roof top rain water harvesting in remote schools and health centres all over the world. Bunker Roy is known for his commitment to providing drinking water through innovative means and has shown it on the ground by establishing partnerships where possible.
