Cartoons for the WASH Calendar 2008-2009

The WASH calendar was introduced for the first time in 2004/2005, highlighting sanitation related issues, messages, WATSAN policy related matters elicited through cartoons (comical and satirical visual pictures) in simple language targeted towards the rural population and disseminated widely across the country. So far five issues have been published and over the years the calendar seems to have gained wide popularity and has received positive responses from the users, in fact they are also reported to be used as Information Education Communication (IEC) materials by some organizations.

Considering the popularity of the calendar within and outside the sector, on the occasion of the International Year of Sanitation, 2008 the government desk of the International Year of Sanitation under the Steering Committee for National Sanitation Action pointed it as an opportunity to bring out the WASH Calendar in large numbers and be disseminated as widely as possible. Hence, 27,500 copies were published with the support of WSSCC and WaterAid Nepal and have been widely distributed throughout the country through the network of Government, Nepal WASH Group members and other stakeholders.
