Coalition building

The Nicaragua WASH initiative was established in 2006. The WASH efforts are coordinated by RASNIC, the Nicaragua Water and Sanitation Network, which represents a mix of national and international stakeholders.

Activities

Having recently been established, the network is currently focusing on building awareness on WASH, and preparing for the launch of a national WASH campaign. The concept that is used is that of Integral Environmental Sanitation. A series of local level assessments has been carried out in 7 regions of Nicaragua to map the sanitation-related situation, and regional events are underway to build momentum and awareness.
