WASH Coalition building

Sri Lanka is home to a growing WASH coalition, with the objective to raise awareness on the WASH campaign and ’Vision 21’ principles, aimed at achieving reliable and sustainable services and socio-economic well-being, with special emphasis on the poor.

Partners involved include the Ministries of Urban Development and Water Supply, Education, and Health, as well as a number of NGOs and community-based organizations, donors, private sector representatives, and provincial councils and local authorities.

So far, the partners have been involved in activities ranging from the development of a concept paper on the MDGs, the establishment of ‘SRIWASH’, a provincial pilot resource centre, and the development of public-private community partnerships for improved rural water supply and sanitation.
