Capacity Building and Integrated Water Resource Management
Capacity development and better management of water resources are dealt with by various professional actors within the field of water, sanitation and hygiene, two groups of which are linked to the activities of the WSSCC. These are:
CapNet
Cap-Net is an international network for capacity building in Intergrated Water Resource Management (IWRM). It is made up of a partnership of autonomous international, regional and national institutions and networks committed to capacity building in the water sector. It focuses on implementation, addressing issues of IWRM implementation in water supply, in sanitation and in agriculture. It also presses the need for capacity to be developed on managing water at river basin and catchments levels. There is currently a focus on water supply and sanitation and the network structure is seen as a good vehicle to scale up capacity building to help achieve the MDGs and support the introduction of IWRM into water use areas.

STREAMS
Streams of Knowledge (STREAMS) is an autonomous, self-sustained, recognised and credible leader organisation of resource centres, uniquely positioned locally and globally and effective in capacitating the sector in supporting the development of pro-poor policies for the sustainable implementation of water, sanitation, health and hygiene. STREAMS is composed of a growing number of strategically located Resource Centers which are independent formal organizations responsible for their own operations but effectively joined together by STREAMS' vision, mission, objectives and strategies. The different partners that make up the STREAMS coalition are all uniquely positioned in their respective countries where many, if not all, are directly influential at national level policy making processes and local level capacity building, implementation and fund flows.
