The media plays an important role in the quest to rally decision makers, policy makers, and the general public on the importance of safe water, adequate sanitation and proper hygiene behaviour. The Council works closely with international, regional and local media in different ways. Press releases provide information on major events and happenings within the Council and within the sector. The WASH media award, launched in 2004, encourages journalists to cover these important issues.
