During the 4th World Water Forum in Mexico City on 18 March,
the WSSCC and its partners launched a new evidence report
that documents the benefits of women's involvement in water,
sanitation and hygiene efforts.
Entitled "For Her - It's the Big Issue: putting women
at the centre of water supply, sanitation and hygiene",
the evidence report chronicles multiple positive impacts -
from reducing corruption, increasing transparency, better
financial management - to lowering disease, raising school
attendance and literacy rates, improving health and nutritional
status, and reducing gender inequality and poverty.
Published by the WSSCC in collaboration with WEDC, the evidence
report is supported by the Government of Norway, UNICEF and
the Gender and Water Alliance.
