Global Sanitation Fund Progress Report, Sanitation and Hygiene “Toolkit” Among New Offerings from WSSCC

22 March 2012 – World Water Day: A new results report from WSSCC about its Global Sanitation Fund (GSF) shows that the first 100,000 people of a planned 12 million in seven countries have gained access to safe sanitation because of GSF-funded work.  In addition, a “Toolkit 101 for Leadership, Action and Change on Sanitation and Hygiene” for sector professionals is one of several new outputs from the recent WSSCC Global  Forum on Sanitation and Hygiene in Mumbai, India.

22 mars 2012 – Journée mondiale de l’eau : un nouveau rapport sur les résultats du Fonds mondial pour l’Assainissement (GSF) du WSSCC indique que les premières 100 000 personnes sur les 12 millions visés dans sept pays ont obtenu l’accès à un assainissement sûr grâce au travail financé par le GSF. De plus, une ‘Trousse à outils 101 pour le leadership, l’action et le changement dans l’assainissement et l’hygiène’ pour les professionnels du secteur est l’un des plusieurs résultats émergeant du Forum mondial du WSSCC sur l’assainissement et l’hygiène tenu récemment à Mumbai, en Inde. Départ des Marches pour l’Eau et l’Assainissement à travers le monde

 Plus de 300,000 personnes à travers le monde sont prêtes à agir pour résoudre la crise de l’eau et l’assainissement du Samedi 17 Mars au Dimanche 25 Mars 2012.   Cette semaine a été choisie en vue de la Journée Mondiale de l’Eau le 22 Mars.

Uganda Sanitation Fund receives US$6 million from WSSCC: 5 year programme will benefit health and the environment

Kumi District, Uganda, 16 March 2012 - The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) today allocated US$6 million from its Global Sanitation Fund to help more people in Uganda attain safe sanitation and practice good hygiene.

Updated highlights report from the Global Forum

The first-ever WSSCC Global Forum on Sanitation and Hygiene took place from 9 to 14 October 2011 in Mumbai, India.  WSSCC brought together almost 500 sanitation and hygiene professionals and WSSCC members, as well as communicators, educators, health professionals, architects, academics, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, leaders and professionals from other disciplines. Participants came from over 70 countries. A third came to the Forum from Africa, half from Asia and the remainder from Europe and the Americas. They spent a week networking, sharing, learning, strategizing and building momentum.

“King of Bollywood” Shahrukh Khan puts his star-power behind life-saving sanitation and hygiene issues

Shahrukh Khan, one of the world’s most popular and much-loved Bollywood personalities, is making the fight for the right to safe sanitation and good hygiene his own.  The announcement was made last night at the start of the Global Forum on Sanitation and Hygiene, an international conference taking place this week in Mumbai.

Mumbai Global Forum, 9-14 Oct: Experts seek sanitation-powered economic, educational, health and social gains

A generation after man walked on the moon, a billion people on earth still defecate in the open and another billion use unsafe holes in the ground. Now sanitation is becoming much more prominent: as UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said recently: “It is time to put sanitation and access to proper toilets at the centre of our development discussions.”
