Work by three Pacific
island groups to spread WASH messages and awareness met challenges with
communications and transport, but achieved worthwhile results in the end.
The Pacific WASH C oalition’s 2009 campaign
succeeded in establishing several national coalitions in the region. It also
sought to improve health and reduce the impact of typhoid in three Fijian
schools.
The Pacific WASH Coalition
functions as a roof for 14 Pacific nations, all with specific capacities. They
have developed a framework for the Coalition which advocates coordinated WASH
support.
