Civil society, government officials participate in Tanzania Global Sanitation Fund programme inception workshop

Today, some 65 representatives of Local Government agencies and civil society organisations in Tanzania participated in a meeting in the capital city Dodoma to learn more about the national Global Sanitation Fund (GSF) programme and their own potential involvement in it.

Plan Tanzania confirmed as GSF Executing Agency

This week, Plan Tanzania officially joined the Global Sanitation Fund family after signing a contract to serve as the lead implementing partner, known as an Executing Agency (EA), in the country. The three-year contract will enable the Tanzania programme – launched officially in June 2012 and known as the Usafi wa Mazingira Tanzani (UMATA) in Kiswahili – to move forward rapidly.

WSSCC Chair Prof. Anna Tibaijuka advocates for sanitation and hygiene during New York visit

Professor Anna Tibaijuka, Chair of WSSCC's Steering Committee, is in New York City this weekend for two important events being held in conjunction with the United Nations General Assembly meetings. On 1-2 October, she will chair the next WSSCC Steering Committee meeting in Geneva.

Call for letters of interest on sanitation and hygiene research in Tanzania

The SHARE Research Programme Consortium in collaboration with the National Institute for Medical Research has issued a Call for Letters of Interest (LOI) to conduct research on sanitation and hygiene in Tanzania. The deadline for submission of Letters of Interest is Wednesday 10 October 2012 at 18:00 hours.

Tanzania Embarks on Ambitious Sanitation and Hygiene Programme

Moshi, Tanzania, 5 June 2012 - On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) officially announced its support for a Sanitation and Hygiene programme investing US$ 5,000,000 from its Global Sanitation Fund (GSF) to help more communities in Tanzania increase access to and attain improved sanitation.
