About the author

The Kyrgyz WASH Coalition includes various national and international actors. The coalition’s focus is the inclusion of WASH issues and hygiene behaviour change in primary school education with the participation of teachers, government, and civil society. To that end, in 2008 the coalition held workshops and lectures in schools and universities in the southern provinces on the link between sanitation and hygiene. It also published WASH materials in a national school newspaper; and prepared a hygiene curriculum and teachers’ manual for use in primary schools. In 2009 the coalition organized a Radio WASH Campaign to raise WASH awareness.
