Summary

This issue of the Water Information Network – South Africa (WIN-SA) newsletter focuses on global and national initiatives to raise awareness of good health and hygiene practices, and at national and provincial efforts to put strong delivery services into place, and to improve the expertise of local communities. Topics described include HIV-infected and AIDS-affected households and sanitation; mobilizing women to participate in water and forestry programmes; disposal of human waste; and involving community development workers in health and hygiene awareness. Other sections touch on empowering youth, and creating jobs in the sanitation sector.
