Summary

The first issue of 2010 focuses on perspectives on rights and also on Right to Water and Sanitation (RTWS). India WASH Forum attempts to bring together perspectives that are often missed in the mainstream discourse. An article, “Understanding Rights,” offers clarity on rights in a historical and contemporary perspective. Commentary is offered based on a paper “Rights Based Approach and Right to Water and Sanitation.” This update also includes a “Statement of Shared Intent” from the RTWS Workshop as well as an excerpt from an article on rural drinking water supply.
