Summary

The project sought ways to influence Government policies on water, sanitation and hygiene. It aimed to build strong partnerships, equip journalists and develop links with parliamentarians. Activities included a training workshop and seminar, and a TV debate.  One lesson learnt was the need to ensure that messages are followed by concrete actions.

About the author

Promoting a public dialogue on sanitation and hygiene is a major activity of the WASH Coalition in Mali. Merging with the End Water Poverty Now campaign in 2007, the CIEPA/WASH Coalition, (la Campagne Internationale pour l'Eau potable et l'Assainissement) has created a unified voice raising visibility and involved stakeholders. The main goal of the CIEPA/WASH Coalition is to increase sustainable access to adequate water and sanitation services for vulnerable people through advocacy, campaigning and policy support.
