Media plays a vital role to increase people’s acceptance and helps them internalize new issues. For instance, a few years back topics like use of family planning tools, HIV/AIDS, etc. were not openly discussed. Media can have an effective role to bring non-prioritized issues like sanitation to public discussion and also create awareness about it. Considering these facts, since 2004 the WSSCC Nepal WASH coalition initiated collaboration with the media for sanitation promotion.
This note describes the different activities of the WSSCC Nepal WASH coalition in collaboration with the media to generate awareness and initiate advocacy work around sanitation, hygiene and water supply.
