Summary

The Uganda WASH Coalition helped organize a training workshop held on water, sanitation and hygiene, and HIV and AIDS management in two National Community of Women Living with HIV/AIDS (NACWOLA) districts of Kamuli and Lwero. The workshop promoted WASH related issues for women living with HIV/AIDS and their caregivers and helped mainstream WASH Action Plans in the activities of NACWOLA in the two districts.

About the author

In 2003, the National Sanitation Working Group (NSWG) was set up to coordinate and promote hygiene and sanitation work throughout the country. The NSWG includes government ministries, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation, Kampala City Council, development and bilateral partners and donors, and non-government organizations (NGOs). Most recently NSWG focuses on addressing behaviour change, through effective use of the media and on the disposal of garbage and human excreta in peri-urban areas of Kampala.
