The Pakistan WASH Coalition worked closely with Federal Ministries, provincial and local governments, international agencies, civil society organizations, and partner schools across Pakistan during 2010. The main objectives were to develop an evidence-based WASH in Schools program along with three hygiene promotion manuals in Urdu; to contribute to the firming up of the National Sanitation Action Plan (N-SAP) and launch the Global Sanitation Fund in the country, along with targeted advocacy for toilets and hand washing. The Pakistan WASH Coalition also worked on two cross-cutting themes: (i) Training in WASH for marginal communities in urban squatter settlements, and (ii) Capacity Building of Water and Sanitation Agencies (WASAs) for Integrity and Accountability in procurement and sub-contracting.
