Summary

Liberia WASH Coalition undertook a research study to investigate the government WASH budgeting process, analyze the extent to which budgeted resources have been utilized and where the money has been spent, and to compare WASH sector budgets to other social and economic sectors. The research revealed that the WASH sector in Liberia is underfunded, marginalized, and underutilized. Due to lack of funding and coordination, the sector stands a potential risk of facing serious environmental, epidemiological, and sanitary challenges.
