Summary

The Coalition marked World Water Day with a range of activities, including lectures, competitions, river bank cleaning and, well-water monitoring, all focusing on young people, teachers, parents, and local authorities. They also produced a film, “Sanitation and Hygiene – now!” which was shown on TV and available on YouTube. It published a variety of printed information, including a leaflet on the UNECE Protocol on Water and Health, held four regional seminars and a national conference on the Protocol, and organized two workshops on wastewater management and sanitation technologies.

The Ukraine WASH Coalition engages in restoring water, sanitation and hygiene to a higher position on the political agenda and creates public awareness, especially for and with children and women. They have focused their efforts on building a strong National Coalition in order to consolidate stakeholders’ efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals on water supply and sanitation and in promoting public involvement in policy-making processes.
