Origins and rationale of network
The website was set up in 2006 as part of a DFID funded project on CLTS. This initial fund was followed by support from Irish Aid and from Bill and Melinda Gates.
Objectives
The CLTS website aims to be the global hub for CLTS by connecting practitioners, communities, NGOs, agencies, researchers, governments, donors and others involved or interested in CLTS.
The website contains practical information about the approach, information on CLTS in different countries, research papers, relevant news and events and many other useful materials. It intends to serve as an up-to-date virtual resource centre and is a space for sharing and learning on CLTS.
Key partner organizations
The key partners and collaborators amount to hundreds of individuals. Kamal Kar, the pioneer and key disseminator of CLTS, continues to be a close collaborator on consultancy basis. Some of the main organizations the network collaborate most closely, include, in alphabetical order, CLTS Foundation (India), Government of India, the International Water and Sanitation Centre (IRC), the Key Resource Centre Water & Sanitation at Uttarakhand Academy of Administration in Nainital (India), Knowledge Links (India), Plan International, Tearfund, UNICEF, WSSCC, WaterAid, Water and Sanitation Programme of the World Bank (WSP).
