Origins and rationale of network
The Gender and Water Alliance (GWA) was established at the Second World Water Forum (WWF) in March 2000.
Objectives
To promote women's and men's equitable access to and management of safe and adequate water/to mainstream gender in water resources management.
The objectives of GWA Strategy 2006-2010 is to strengthen significantly the gender-related understanding and practice of water-sector professionals and decision makers at national and local levels.
