WSSCC's partners in India formally launched the Global Sanitation Fund in the country at an event in Ranchi, Jharkhand, at the Radisson Blue Hotel on 28 April. The launch was being organized by the GSF' Executing Agency NR International.
"We had a very successful launch of the GSF in Jharkhand by Honourable Chief Minister and many other dignitaries, as well as around 100 CSOs and all leading media outlets," said Anand Shekhar of NR International.
The $5 million fund aims to promote sustainable sanitation in rural India and focuses its efforts in the States of Assam and Jharkhand. The programme seeks to respond to fundamental challenges in the Indian rural sanitation sector and is consistent with the core principles espoused by the Government of India (GoI).
