WSSCC’s former Executive Director Jon Lane, OBE received The Michael Lubbock Award to recognize his outstanding contribution to the field of clean water and sanitation in developing countries at the WaterCan Awards ceremony held recently in Ottawa, Canada.
Jon Lane received the award at the WaterCan Awards Ceremony: Celebrating exceptional contribution to WaterCan and the International Water and Sanitation Sector. Hosted at the National Arts Centre on 10 October, the award was presented by Christina Lubbock, widow of the late Michael Lubbock.
The awards event was organized to mark the 25th anniversary of WaterCan – a leading Canadian charity dedicated to fighting global poverty by helping the world’s poorest people gain access to clean safe drinking water basic sanitation facilities and hygiene education.
The awards evening honoured six individuals who have made exceptional contribution to WaterCan and efforts to combat global poverty through water and sanitation investments. Other recipients were as WaterCan’s former Executive Directors (1987-2011): Nancy Pawalek, Denise Bealieu, Nicole Bosley, Christine Lubbock and Gary H.J. Pluim.
