With over 200 collaborating organisations, World Water Week which is held annually in Stockholm is the premier global focal point event for individuals and organisations that are working on various issues concerning water. This includes governments, non-governmental organisations, researchers, United Nations entities, business and the media. The theme for the 2013 week, which runs from 1 to 6 September, is Water Cooperation - Building Partnerships. The week is hosted and organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI).
At this year’s event, WSSCC is showcasing its work through a dedicated exhibition through which the organisation has managed to highlight its activities and engage with participants on the progress of its programmes. The exhibition is also being used as space for media engagements and also as a place where participants are encouraged to leave their details for future communications from the organisation.
On Thursday (5 September), WSSCC will host a seminar on country-level collaboration and coordination in sanitation and hygiene and joint learning through knowledge management. WSSCC Executive Director Chris Williams will deliver the keynote address at the seminar. The event will run from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in Room B8.
WSSCC works closely with other UN agencies, partners, NGOs, countries and community leaders to improve access for the 2.5 billion people without safe sanitation and the 780 million people without clean drinking water.
