As part of the WSSCC advocacy strategy, direct support is provided to National WASH Coalitions. This support can be in the form of extra financial assistance for advocacy activities or providing assistance in setting up a longer term advocacy strategy. An advocacy strategy workshop was requested by the Philippines Coalition and took place from 21 to 27 November 2009. The agenda of the workshop included sessions on what is advocacy and why use it, why a strategy is needed and what steps must be undertaken in order to develop one, a stakeholder analysis and a power mapping. Representatives of three geographical groups will meet in Manila in the weeks following the workshop and turn the outcomes of the workshop into a proposal to WSSCC.
