WSSCC's Saskia Castelein visited with WASH coalition colleagues in Tanzania as they worked to develop a new advocacy strategy. The strategy helps the Tanzanian coalition in its aims to build a sustainable advocacy alliance for promoting hygiene and sanitation. It does this through a multi stakeholder coalition of organisations working in this field. Other activities include:
-- Lobbying and advocacy for sanitation and hygiene issues conducted through the Sanitation Task Force
-- Mapping of WATSAN CSOs’ capacity building needs
-- Joint Sector Water Review conducted
-- WASH Coalition advocacy development & training
-- Media sensitization training on sanitation and hygiene
-- Workshops, exhibitions and demonstrations held to highlight the International Year of Sanitation
-- Producing of IEC materials: Focus on empowerment of communities by gender, local realities )
-- Organising the annual Maji Week Awards
