The water towers of the earth -the Himalayan mountains -- are facing water scarcity in various ways: the surface water sources are drying up, and the ecosystem functions are disrupted due to various developmental activities and non-consideration of environmental issues. Rural migration has lead to urban swelling and haphazard planning in major mountain cities across Himalayan Region. The water resource is becoming scarce and business in water is rampant.
