Summary

This handbook encourages women to join the international arena as advocates of a broad range of policies that promote gender equity. It presents strategies that are generally applicable to all advocacy activities for policy change, with a focus on expanding women’s leadership roles. The guide details advocacy strategies in four sections: 1) planning for advocacy, 2) taking your message to the public, 3) forging alliances, and 4) advocating for resources. A concluding section illustrates some of these strategies with profiles of Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) alumnae and partner organizations working for change.
