The Thematic Group considers the following issues to be key issues under the banner of ‘scaling up’: identify ways to increase coverage from current “islands” of community success to reach entire populations; and ensure that community water services are sustainable in the long term. The Mini Conference took place on 20 and 21 September 2006 where participants shared their experiences with scaling up. The Mini Conference was followed by a Thematic Group meeting on 22 September, in which part of the group of Mini Conference participants took part. The conference featured presentations elaborating on scaling up issues from different perspectives. Discussions and deliberations were conducted in sub-groups after every two to three presentations.
