World Toilet Day in Ukraine: we deserve better

Ukrainian Environmental NGO Mama – 86 together with the Water Information Centre in Kiev celebrated World Toilet Day on 19 November by organising information and communication activities.

An information stand was devoted to the following themes — the Millennium Development Goals water and sanitation targets, Ukraine’s MDG target achievements, modern classification of sanitary practices, technical solutions for wastewater and human excreta management, ecological sanitation, and alternative sanitation solutions. In addition, soap was distributed to children and a film dedicated to the International Year of Sanitation was presented. Media excellence was also honoured through the ‘Adequate sanitation for every citizen of Ukraine’ competition.
