Call for nominations for the SIDS regional seat and a Partner Agency seat on the WSSCC
Steering Committee with effect 1 October 2012

This is the call for Nominations for the Small Islands & Developing States (SIDS) six regional seat on the WSSCC Steering Committee. If you wish to be a candidate or to nominate someone, please ensure all the requirements below are fulfilled:


  • Using the “Nomination Form” you may nominate yourself or be nominated by another member.
  • The Nominee must have been a member for a minimum of 2 years.
  • None of the counter signatories may be close relatives (i.e. parent, spouse, sibling
    or child).
  • The Nomination Form must be countersigned by at least one National Coordinator or Steering Committee member who is not standing for re-election.
  • The Nomination Form must be countersigned by 4 WSSCC members from at least 2 countries with no more than two members from any one country. Members can be contacted through the website.

This means that you must have a minimum of five countersignatures.

  • You must attach a short biography (maximum 1 page).
  • You must attach a passport sized colour photograph.
  • You must attach a brief manifesto (approximately 1 page). This should give details of a) why the Nominee would be a suitable Steering Committee member,  b) what the Nominee can contribute to the Steering Committee and c) what the Nominee has accomplished in sanitation and public health in the past 5 years.

The election rules may be found in the WSSCC Governance Document dated 10 October 2011 which are found here on the WSSCC website. Nominations will be reviewed by the Secretariat and then by the Chair supported by the election committee. This will be followed by the Election process which will be open to members registered in the WSSCC Region for which the Nominee is standing.

Please note that Steering Committee members are expected to attend all the Steering Committee meetings which normally take place twice a year, usually in mid March and mid October in Geneva. The first Steering Committee meeting that you will be expected to attend will be held in Geneva on 1 & 2 October 2012.
