We support the acceleration of ongoing initiatives in the WASH sector. In consultation with country partners, we have identified a set of areas where we may be instrumental in supporting the country to overcome a set of obstacles currently hampering sanitation and hygiene development.
For the coming year, our engagement in Eritrea will centre on national level and sub-national level interventions. At the national level, using SWA building blocks and collaborative behaviours as a conducive framework, the support will cover five key initiatives:
At the sub-national level, our support will contribute to the implementation of the Government of Eritrea’s Open Defecation Free road map, developed by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and UNICEF in 2018. We will focus on LNOB, equality and non-discrimination and preventing slippage to accelerate the journey from triggering to open defecation free attainment.
