Recently, the Mozambican Government developed a National Development Strategy that highlights the need to increase WASH coverage. The first objective of this strategy is to achieve universal water and sanitation coverage by 2035. A National Water and Sanitation Programme for the rural area in Mozambique (PRONASAR) has been agreed upon with the Government.
Our engagement model in Mozambique centres on a partnership with Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP), focusing primarily on urban sanitation service provisions. In December 2019, we hosted a catalytic south-south masterclass on urban WASH environments meeting with civil society organizations, local Government and utilities focusing on inclusive service delivery and anchored within Equality and Non-Discrimination and Leave No One Behind principles.
