From 20 -21 June the Global Public Private Partnership on Handwashing with Soap (PPPHW) will host the 2012 Handwashing Behaviour Change Think Tank in New York. The Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing with Soap (PPPHW) is a coalition of international stakeholders whose focus is handwashing and child health, of which the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) is a part.
The Think Tank initiative will kick off with an Expert Meeting to take stock of current best practice, identify the gaps and articulate the way forward for handwashing behaviour change. The Think Tank will provide an opportunity for leaders in the sector to discuss the current state of handwashing behaviour change and articulate the way forward, rather than an attempt to “educate” participants on handwashing behaviour change.
The Expert Meeting will discuss both the latest research and different programme experiences on handwashing behaviour change and will cover, among others, the following topics:
On 21 June from 9 - 11 am local time, the Think Tank will open up into a webinar, to facilitate live engagement with handwashing behaviour change practitioners in the field. This will allow participants to learn where and how handwashing behaviour change is being integrated at the field level and the opportunities and challenges for integration. This will also be followed by a Question and Answer session between practitioners and Think Tank participants.
Participants will include academics working on various aspects of behaviour change research, handwashing programmes Managers, private sector partners engaged in various behaviour change campaigns/programmes, and representatives from international organizations and NGOs with a WASH focus.
More information on the Think Tank and the webinar will be made available shortly.
Please feel free to share this with interested colleagues and partners.
