SNV, an international not-for-profit development organisation with a long-term, local presence in 38 of the poorest countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, has just released a new fact sheet on sanitation and hygiene drivers of change in Cambodia.
SNV is also a sub-grantee of the Global Sanitation Fund in Cambodia. It is working in close cooperation with the government partners, community groups and other stakeholders in the five provinces of Kampong Cham, Takeo, Svay Rieng, Kampong Speu and Kandal to improve the health and quality of life for the rural households through enhanced access to improved sanitation and hygiene practices.
In each of these provinces SNV has been providing capacity building and technical assistance for the Provincial Department of Rural Development (PDRD) in planning, implementation and monitoring of sanitation demand creation and hygiene behavior change communication activities under Cambodia Rural Sanitation and Hygiene Improvement Program (CR-SHIP) financed by the Global Sanitation Fund (GSF) of the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC)
A new fact sheet from SNV details how "one of the main factors contributing to the success is the strong commitment and active engagement of local authorities as role models and facilitators of sanitation and hygiene change."
