Social media has become an increasingly important platform – not just for communications professionals or the general public, but also for all those sector professionals that are looking to raise awareness, learn about issues, and advocate for what they believe in.
As the Collaborative Council of the sanitation sector, WSSCC has a growing number of members who are sharing stories, pictures, videos and innovative ideas on key social media platforms. WSSCC’s LinkedIn “Sanitation and Hygiene in Developing Countries” group now has over 1,500 members. These members are sharing news or promoting activities, requesting more information to help build knowledge, as well as dialoging about sanitation to share learning and challenges and raise further awareness.
Everyday both within and outside the sector, people are asking to join the WSSCC ‘s Facebook group, where WSSCC is currently promoting messages from the GDP for GDP Campaign. WSSCC is also using Twitter to spread the WASH-word quickly, ensuring that WSSCC Twitter followers are able to access instant updates at the click of a button.
WSSCC members are united by their passion for improving the life of the poorest by providing safe sanitation, drinking water and good hygiene. Social media can be the platform that you can use, together with us to advocate for issues that really count!
Join us and win an iPod touch*
WSSCC is opening a competition to win an iPod touch for the first 100 members who either:
WSSCC will judge which one of our member’s is being proactive and advocating for critical sanitation issues, such
as GDP for GDP and inform the winner. The competition will end on 30 April 2012.

games, and many more applications available for download.
