Andy Cotton wins Partnership Seat on WSSCC Steering Committee


Following the call for nominations on 17 July 2012, WSSCC is pleased to announce that following the election Mr Andy Cotton has won the Partner Agency seat on its Steering Committee.

Andy Cotton is Director of WEDC at Loughborough University (UK), one of the world’s leading education and research institutes in water and sanitation. Andrew is a Public Health Engineer with 33 years international experience in research, consultancy, publication and teaching. His main areas of work are in sanitation and the development of services for the urban poor. He has experience of working at global, regional, national and municipal levels providing policy, strategy and implementation support to bilateral and multi-lateral donors, governments and NGOs.

In 2008, Andrew was the Specialist Adviser to the UK Parliament House of Commons Select Committee enquiry into Water and Sanitation which set IUK development policy that shifted to a stronger sanitation focus. He is currently a member of the global Core Team convened by World Bank, UNICEF and WHO working on proposals for the post-2015 targets and indicators for sanitation. Outside of his professional work in WASH, Andrew has extensive experience in organisational strategy and management, being a trustee and governing council member of the Leicester and Rutland Wildlife Trust and Chairman and band member of the Rutland Symphony Orchestra.
