Post Global Forum – Watch this space!

The WSSCC Global Forum on Sanitation and Hygiene brought together over 500 sanitation and hygiene professionals, WSSCC members, as well as professionals from outside of the Water and Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector.

Participants came from over 70 countries: a third from Africa, half from Asia and the remainder from Europe and the Americas. From 9-14 October they spent time networking, sharing, learning, strategizing, and building momentum.

The Global Forum, hosted in Mumbai, India had numerous positive outcomes including: presentations on Communications for Behaviour Change, a shift in the approaches to the design for inclusive lifecycle WASH, as well as lively debates on Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), training sessions for more than 200 people, complimented by field visits to rural and urban projects in Maharashtra - the flagship state for sanitation and hygiene in India.

With the success of the Forum, the momentum to capture the knowledge and expertise has not been lost. A substantive post-Global Forum report will be published in early 2012 with a comprehensive review of the Forum’s sessions, together with topical pieces that aim to elevate the debate on water, sanitation and hygiene to a higher level. The report will be complemented by a CD-Rom of resources from the event.

As a result of the high level of interest by participants in Community Led Total Sanitation training at the Global Forum, the CLTS Foundation is keen to extend the opportunity of registering interest in further trainings to organizations and individuals that work directly with communities.  If you are interested, please click here.
