Practitioners share knowledge on equity and social inclusion

The African Civil Society Network on Water and Sanitation (ANEW) is a regional networking body of African civil society organizations (CSOs) actively involved in the field of sustainable water management, water supply and sanitation.

ANEW organized an “Activists and Practitioners Learning and Sharing Forum” on equity and social inclusion in the WASH sector in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 28 to 30 September. WSSCC supported the event by sponsoring several members’ participation, as well as through communications support.

Several case studies were presented and discussions focused on the key lessons from what has worked and how it can be replicated elsewhere. In particular the event focused on the following areas: improving equitable and pro-poor services in urban water supply; innovative and effective sanitation approaches for urban poor and rural areas; promoting partnerships to increase equitable access to WASH.

The event was attended by around 70 participants, including sector professionals, government officials, and representatives of local, national and international organizations. For more information please contact Ina Jurga at
