The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC)’s vision is a world in which everyone, everywhere is able to practice safe sanitation and hygiene with dignity. Working to facilitate sector coordination at national, regional and global levels, WSSCC believes that the 5th African Conference on Sanitation and Hygiene is a unique opportunity to promote political prioritization of sanitation and hygiene and to track progress towards achieving the Ngor Declaration.

- National Coordinators’ Meeting on Country Engagement
This meeting is designed to hold consultations with the National Coordinators on the development of the WSSCC’s Country Engagement plans and vision sharing on how best to support national engagement in increasing access to improved sustainable equitable safely managed sanitation and hygiene services.
- AfricaSan Thematic Session
Leave no one behind programming and a multi-stakeholder approach for inclusive sanitation provision
The session will focus on Leave No One Behind programming. Lessons from the Kenya Sanitation and Hygiene Improvement Program (KSHIP) and multi-stakeholder approach for inclusive sanitation provision in West Africa (examples from Nigeria and Burkina Faso).
- AfricaSan Thematic Session:Monitoring and using evidence: Measuring the last mile: assessing new equity and sustainability data across African countries
This session will present WSSCC’s new outcome survey methodology as a practical tool for measuring sustainability and equity outcomes, and discuss the combined survey findings from Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, Togo, and Nigeria and its implications for reaching SDG 6.2.
Evening: Membership & Partnership Cocktail (by invitation only)
To bring together all WSSCC members and partners, National Coordinators and Secretariat staff for a meet and greet session whereby vision and experience sharing will take place. Brainstorming on the various contributions of members to WSSCC will be done and Networking promoted among members to feed into the WSSCC vision. An evening of friendship, partnership, food and fun!

- AfricaSan Thematic Session: Leave No One Behind: Towards Sustainable Menstrual Health Management in Africa
The session will highlight the role of African governments in ending menstruation stigma and shame, linking sanitation and menstrual health management and providing evidence of alternative pathways to reach the SDGs in Africa. It will also provide a global perspective on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) in institutional settings.
- WSSCC & CONTAINER BASED SANITATION ALLIANCE (CBSA) FULL DAY WORKSHOP
Achieving urban equality: The potential of container-based sanitation for realizing the human right to sanitation in urban settings
This workshop will explore the potential for container-based sanitation (CBS) for addressing Equality and Non-Discrimination (EQND) and support the city-wide inclusive sanitation agenda. This workshop is targeted towards representatives from governments, utilities boards, donors, development partners, and the private sector to better understand urban EQND issues and how CBS business models can support the delivery of national commitments for safely managed sanitation for all. There will be a technology exhibition to engage participants in the various business models that the CBSA is promoting in an effort to ensure that no one is left behind.
