Zambia, Mali host workhops on Community-Led Total Sanitation

Professionals in Africa are gathering this week and next in Zambia and Mali, respectively, for two important training workshops on Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS). CLTS is an innovative way to achieve communities free from open defecation. It changes people’s behaviour by shifting mindsets – to focus their desire for, and triggering them to build a sanitation system themselves.

The workshops are arranged by the Institute for Development Studies (IDS), with some participants supported by WSSCC. WSSCC’s Programme Manager for Networking and Knowledge Management, Ms. Archana Patkar, is also participating in the Mali workshop.
