The Global Sanitation Fund (GSF) programme in Nepal awarded eleven grants to seven sub-grantees in total USD 524,954, to kick start the implementation of its programme. GSF’s work in Nepal, aims to impact a total of 1.9 million people, 1.1 million of which currently do not have access to basic sanitation and hygiene. The sub-grantees who were awarded funds are local and national organizations in Nepal, which will focus on the districts of Bajura and Bardiya districts, located in the Far and Mid-Western Development Region of Nepal.

The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) and the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) welcome entries for the fourth edition of the WASH Media Awards. This competition is open to journalists who publish or broadcast original investigative stories and reports on water supply, sanitation or hygiene (WASH) related issues and their impact on individual and country development. So start spreading  the word!

WSSCC participated in the inaugural African Center for Water and Sanitation forum in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Led by CREPA, a key player and visionary in Africa on sanitation, water and hygiene issues, the forum attracted key African decision and policy makers to discuss Africa’s representation at the much anticipated high-level meeting on Sanitation and Water for All which will take place in Washington in April 2012 and the 6 World Water Forum (WWF).
