Discussion Synthesis: Private sector engagement in sanitation and hygiene – Exploring roles across t...

Collaboration
The WSSCC Community of Practice on Sanitation and Hygiene in Developing Countries (WSSCC CoP) and the global Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA) came together in late September 2015 to hold a joint three-week thematic discussion on sanitation and hygiene behaviour change programming and sustainability. It was the first time the two networks had come together to host an online collaborative learning event. Both platforms have over 5,000 members each working in WASH and other related sectors. Hence, this thematic discussion was an opportunity to bring together these two global communities to share learning and to explore links between research and practice on behaviour change. The focus on sanitation as a business and sanitation entrepreneurs has mushroomed in recent years with numerous organisations (donors, research institutes and think tanks, NGOs, and impact investor / philanthropist foundations, amongst others) exploring the topic. This summary blends the discussions online with a sampling of the numerous resources available on the topic.

WSSCC – Celebrating 25 years of putting people at the centre

Collaboration
2015 marks not only the year of transition from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but also the 25th anniversary of WSSCC. The aim of this brochure is to share reflections on what WSSCC means to a cross section of our community. In addition to our members, and many partner organizations, the WSSCC community includes National Coordinators, Global Sanitation Fund programme managers, a democratically elected Steering Committee, and bi-lateral donor partners. Through their testimonials, you will discover what is at the core of WSSCC and feel the spirit of our global movement to improve sanitation and hygiene for everyone.

The Evidence Programme on Sanitation and Hygiene

Collaboration
The Evidence Programme on Sanitation and Hygiene (EPSH) stems from a strategic partnership between WSSCC and the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie). Formed in 2014, this partnership features two equally committed parties with vast expertise. As a global membership organization WSSCC embodies the values of collective spirit and solidarity, encouraging collaboration across the board while exercising leadership and bringing diverse voices together as one. By funding rigorous impact evaluations and systematic reviews and by making evidence accessible and useful to policymakers and practitioners, 3ie and WSSCC are helping to improve the lives of people living in poverty.
